![]() It is located on North Street in Blandford off Route 23. North street
is easy to find as there is a flashing yellow light at the intersection
of North Street and Route 23 right in front of the town’s Historical Society
Building. You’ll see the White Church on your right. The locals call it the “White Church,” but it’s officially the First Congregational Church of Blandford. It’s a major landmark in the small town. The church was built in the Spring and Summer of 1822. The principal architect was Captain Isaac Damon of Northampton. He was a noted architect of the time who’d built churches in Northampton, Pittsfield, and Ware. On October 30, 1822 the church was “solemnly dedicated to the worship of almighty God.” A major repair and remodeling project was done in 1866. Today, services are held in the White Church during the Spring, Summer and part of Fall. The rest of the year, services are held on Main Street in the Chapel which was built in 1897. Modern restoration projects have been funded and accomplished by local citizens and parishioners wishing to preserve this treasured landmark The church is a Greek Revival style building and is on the National Register. The church is the site of many weddings, and it’s a great place to
take pictures. If you plan to attend the Blandford Fair on Labor Day weekend,
drive just past the church on North Street and you’ll see the fairgrounds
on your right.
