At Chesterfield Gorge, centuries of rushing water have carved a canyon through ancient rocks. Visit this 1,000 foot chasm lined with glacial boulders. It's a perfect example of glacial ice carving and erosion. A foot rail runs along the top of the gorge, giving dramatic views of the rock walls and the river, while a 1/2 mile carriage road runs along the east side of the river. The Gorge is preserved and maintained by the Massachusetts. Trustees of Reservations.

The Gorge is open year-round, daily, 8am to sunset. Admission for non-members of the Trustees is $2.00 for adults.

Your next two stops will take you from natural wonders, to local history. First, check out the Bisbee Hill Museum.

To get there, leave the Gorge and get back on Route 143, traveling East.  Take a right onto Bisbee Road.  Bisbee Road meets East Street where the Bisbee Museum is #55.
