At Chesterfield Gorge, centuries of rushing water
have carved a canyon through ancient rocks. Visit this 1,000 foot chasm
lined with glacial boulders. It's a perfect example of glacial ice carving
and erosion. A foot rail runs along the
top of the gorge, giving dramatic views of the rock walls and the river,
while a 1/2 mile carriage road runs along the east side of the river. The
Gorge is preserved and maintained by the Massachusetts. Trustees of Reservations.
The Gorge is open year-round, daily, 8am to sunset.
Admission for non-members of the Trustees is $2.00 for adults.
